Using the hob

Person pressing a button on an electric stove control panel.

To turn the hob on, press and hold this button.

This button also turns off the hob, in the same way.

Finger pressing button on a glass electric stove.

Select the hob you want by pressing these buttons. The two on the bottom row will select the outside rings, the upper two will be the inner rings.

A hand pressing a button on a black glass electric stove.

You can increase ad decrease the temperature by pressing the "+" and "-" icons.

There's a fan above the hob

If you're steaming up, there's a fan above the hob, which you can turn on, adjust the speed and turn off by press the top button, as shown.

You keep pressing the button to turn it off, which can be fun, because you might press it one too many times...who knows?

Let there be light!

Press the bottom button, to turn on and off the light. Simples!

There's an oven

There's two ovens under the hob. They have different controls, but you'll work it out.

You might need a light to see the dials, it can be a bit dark. There's a torch up by the hob, if you need it.

On both ovens, you have the standard thing of one dial is for choosing the type of cooking and one is for temperature.

Frying Pans & Baking Trays

In the cupboard left of the sink in the little kitchen, you will find frying pans and baking trays. Hurrah!

Coffee Machine

So, you want a coffee, do you? Knock yourself out!

Open the top by moving the slider.

Pop in a capsule - there's usually some on the window shelf by the machine, or in the larder cupboard in the little kitchen.

Push the machine lid back down and slide the lever to the lock position.

If the machine is full of used capsules, there should be a recycling bag to put them in under the wicker chair to the right of the larder cupboard. Just sayin'.

Press the button on the top of the machine twice, in quick succession.

Don't you be a mug - you will need to put one on the slatted mount at the front to catch the coffee! Mugs are in the cupboard under this machine.

And, the water goes in the see through reservoir on the back of the machine, by the way.

The coffee will pour for about 20-30 seconds.

Milk Frother Experience!

This is next to the coffee machine. It has measurement lines inside to fill area, if you need them.

The instructions are on the top, but to get hot frothy milk, put in your amount, place the top on and press the button on the front twice in quick succession. Bingo!

Larder Cupboard

You will find in here tablecloths for the trestle tables (which are in the storage box on the top decking outside).

Here you will find tea towels and dishcloths.

This is also where Tupperware is kept.

Opening the main kitchen door

But where's the key?

Behind the TV, of course! It's hanging on a little hook, underneath where the aerial socket is...

To open the bi-fold door fully, unlock the door, open out the door with the handle and then unlock the hinges on the top and bottom of the section nearest the TV. With the door handle section open, you can then push open the panels nearer the TV.

It's the same technique as and for the bi-fold windows in the Top Bar Room.

Like the door in the office, you will need to do the thing of moving the door handle to vertical when closing it, or it won't lock.

Please pop the key back behind the TV. Ta.

Plastic Cups

Have a look in the corner cupboard near the back door of the little kitchen and there you will find plastic cups.

The little fridge in the big kitchen

Our poor little fridge is nearing it's end of life and doesn't close particularly well. When you shut the door, it's best to do so firmly, or the contents will melt.

We have taken to just putting spare booze and sauces in here - it's not suitable for food. It's best to put food in the tall fridge in the utility.
